Premier Equestrian Low Jumper Division Gives Riders a Jump Start to Success at Tryon International Equestrian Center

Mill Spring, North Carolina (November 3, 2015) – The world-class arena footing company, Premier Equestrian, knows that success is built from the ground up. Premier Equestrian greatly values the proper progression of riding up the levels for all disciplines and ages of riders, and chooses to partner with horse show associations and companies that share these same principles. That is why Premier Equestrian continues to be a proud sponsor of the 0.80m Low Jumper Division at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

Recently many professional show jumpers have greatly benefited from the Premier Equestrian 0.80m Low Jumper Division because it allowed their beginner students to acquire valuable show experience, and provided their younger horses with some show mileage. Dennis Murphy Jr. of Vandiver, Alabama, a professional trainer and co-owner of Longview Farms, is pleased with the practicality of the smaller jumper classes at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. “I love the .80 and .90 meter classes,” Murphy states. “They allow inexperienced riders the chance to practice genuine courses in a top-notch venue. It’s great preparation for debuting at the child/adult level with an understanding of ‘A’ level courses and expectations.”

Murphy’s student, Millie Herndon, took home a blue ribbon in Tryon’s summer series with her horse Whoops, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, in the blue ribbon run class. It was Herndon’s first show on Whoops, nicknamed at the barn as ‘Daisie.’ “I completed the blue ribbon ride in 67 seconds! I came in clean and under time. Tryon is by far my favorite show ground. The facilities at Tryon are amazing; the ring-side seating especially is perfect for family fans. The overall layout was thought-out and a lot went into it,” said Herndon. “We had amazing looking jumps in the Premier Equestrian 0.80m Low Jumper Division ring, which gave it a more professional feel and look.”

Dressage rider Stephanie Hartigan of Eurimports Equestrian Farm in Canton, Georgia, which specializes in Show Jumping and Dressage, also won a blue ribbon in the Premier Equestrian 0.80m Low Jumper Division at Tryon. She headed straight to Tryon after competing in first level at the Great American Insurance Group/United States Dressage Federation (GAIG/USDF) Region 3 Dressage Championships in Conyers, Georgia, with her horse Clever.

Hartigan, a certified instructor who earned her trainers license in her home country of Germany, owns Eurimports Equestrian with her husband Glenn Hartigan, a Canadian-born show jumper who earned the German National Federation’s highly recognized professional trainers license, the Pferdewirt-Reiten or Bereiter FN. Glenn Hartigan has been competing in the 1.40m classes at Tryon with Clever’s full-bred sister. When her husband recommended that the dressage horse Clever be shown over fences, Hartigan knew that if anyone was going to be riding her horse, it would be her— so Hartigan piloted the seven-year-old Holsteiner through the Premier Equestrian 0.80m Low Jumper Division. “I hadn’t jumped a horse in 15 years,” she said. “It is a little different being husband and wife, with him training and telling me what to do. But it worked out great for me and I had a fantastic week at Tryon.”

Hartigan was overjoyed with Clever and their continued partnership after going clear the whole week in the Premier Equestrian 0.80m Low Jumper Classes. She explains, “It was a game changer, because in dressage you somewhat micromanage a horse and you are with them for every step. In the jumpers you cant control everything and in some situations, he took care of me instead of me taking care of him.”

Premier Equestrian is proud to support all levels and disciplines of riders, and add a little fun and variety to the show ring. The company’s revolutionary horse jumps, world-class arena footing, eye-pleasing dressage arenas, and accessories are just a few of the things that make Premier Equestrian a superior choice.
