Lexington, VA (September 14, 2015) – Leading arena and footing company Premier Equestrian values riders who show kindness towards their horses and demonstrate an overall exceptional attitude while competing. The company rewards these riders by dubbing them ³Premier Equestrians² and presenting them with the Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award. The most recent recipient of this honor is Becky Brok, who received a Premier 3-step mounting block and tricolor ribbon at the International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association (IALHA) National Championship at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA.

Brok competed three of her horses at the IALHA National Championship, earning her personal highest placing of the Championship with her stallion Lucero G, who earned four reserve championship titles. Competing is a hobby for Brok, as her main focus is her thoroughbred racehorse breeding farm in Mohrsville, Pennsylvania. ³We foal between 40-60 mares a year, explained Brok. “My record foaling year was 103 babies.” Taking on the challenge of caring for so many young horses is just one of the ways Brok demonstrates her equestrian passion.

While Brok¹s breeding business takes up much of her time and attention, she still enjoys stepping into the show ring as a way to enjoy some quality time with her horses. Brok feels that because of this laid-back approach to showing, she is able to fully enjoy her time in the ring while also working hard to show her best. At the end of the day, she is happy with her horses¹ ability and not just the scores associated with their performance. “The pressures of my farm are much more than the pressures of any show,” said Brok. “I have to remember that this is my ÂŒfun¹ thing that I do!”

Brok couldn¹t be more proud of her three horses at the IALHA National Championships. ³I do have a lot of confidence in my stallion,² she explained. “My two younger mares were there for the experience, and they behaved so nicely. I was very proud of them. Even if they didn¹t finish the best in their class, they will be horses that I can really enjoy.” Appreciating what each of her mounts contributed to her experience showing at the IALHA National Championships is one of the qualities that made Brok stand out to Premier Equestrian as the perfect recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.

The rider also showed her sportsmanship toward the entire community of equestrians that made up the IALHA National Championships. “The competitors, staff, and volunteers at the Andalusian and Lusitano shows are just great people. When I go to these shows, its like a family reunion.”
