GENERAL READING ABOUT FOOTING

Do I need new footing or can I improve my existing surface?

If your footing doesn’t ride well, it’s time for a change! That doesn’t mean you have to start over though. It depends on your existing arena sand, and that’s where we can help. Here are some common issues:

  • It’s loose. Footing that is too deep or too soft lacks the support every horse needs.
  • Poor drainage. All too often, poor drainage leads to a sodden, muddy arena surface.
  • It’s dusty. Dusty arenas pose a safety hazard, inhibiting the horse and rider’s ability to perform.
  • It’s too compact. A hard arena surface lacks cushion and has a negative impact on a horse’s bones and joints.
