Newberry, FL (April 15, 2015) โ€” Consummate professional and talented rider Greta Wrigley believes in doing things the right way. Her positive outlook and helpful nature have aided her success in dressage. When asked about what motivates her to be a great sportswoman, Wrigley said simply, โ€œI like helping peopleโ€. This approach was rewarded with the Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award at the recent Arabian Celebration at Canterbury in Newberry, Florida.

Wrigley is considerably modest for the incredible successes she has reached since she began competing with Arabians in 1988, earning โ€œabout twelve national championships, at last count,โ€ as stated by Wrigley. Wrigley has also been awarded with USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals โ€“ all with Arabian horses. Her accomplishments have earned her a place in the Arabian Horse Trustโ€™s Hall of Fame.

โ€œI really love the sport,โ€ says Wrigley. โ€œI want to make it fun for everybody else. If there is something I can do to make it easy or help someone else, for me, that is what it is all about.โ€ Premier Equestrian, a leading provider of dressage arenas, looks for people just like Wrigley at competitions to recognize those that demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship. Winners of the Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award receive a tri-colored Premier Sportsmanship Award ribbon, a copy of Horse Angels (a novel by Premier Equestrianโ€™s CEO, Mark Neihart), and a Premier Equestrian embroidered towel. The Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award recognizes equestrians who help to make the overall experience of the show a positive one and encourage others to do the same.

Wrigley runs a training business based in Alachua, Florida, and is also is a popular clinician. Wrigley is planning to teach in a series of clinics sponsored by Markel Insurance Company called โ€œThe Road to the Sport Horse Nationals,โ€ which will focus on dressage, sport horses, and hunters over fences. The clinics will be in Cleveland, Tennessee and Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Wrigley has a note of advice for people starting to show Arabians or showing dressage: โ€œFind a good instructor โ€“ someone who will make it fun, and someone who has a lot of respect for other breeds and disciplines, because you can learn so much from them.โ€

Wrigley is slated to attend the Region XII Championship Horse Show at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia. After the Regionals, Wrigley will likely enter a few open shows and one Arabian show to prepare for the 2015 U.S. Nationals Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show in Raleigh, North Carolina in October. Her demeanor, which earned her the Premier Equestrian Sportsmanship Award, will continue to serve her well and add to her successes in the future.
