Wellington, FL (January 20, 2017) โ Official dressage arena of U.S. Equestrian, Premier Equestrian, believes that itโs just as important to honor riders who display exemplary sportsmanship and dedication to equestrian sports as it is to honor those who earn the highest scores in the show ring.
As a longtime supporter of the iconic Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, Premier Equestrian is once again spending the winter show season recognizing hard-working members of the dressage community who act as role models in their sport. The footing, dressage arena, and horse jump manufacturer is awarding selected riders with the Premier Equestrian Award throughout the 2017 Adequan Global Dressage Festival competition season.
The winner of this yearโs first Premier Equestrian Award is successful trainer and competitor Betsy Steiner of Frenchtown, New Jersey and Wellington, Florida. Steiner is a U.S. Dressage Federation gold medalist and has represented the U.S. in the World Equestrian Games. She and her daughter, Jessie, have a barn full of top students and horses at all levels of training.
Steiner was competing Swiss W, owned by Whitney Bailey, when she earned the Premier Equestrian Award at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. โIโm delighted to be able to show this lovely horse,โ says Steiner. โShe is a dream horse for me, and itโs her first season at the FEI level. This show was my first attempt at Prix St. Georges with her, and she behaved really well.โ Steiner has plenty to keep her busy in Florida during the winter show circuit. โI have great horses, great owners, and great students,โ she explains, โso we are really looking forward to a good season.โ The Premier Equestrian award was a wonderful start to the weeks of competition ahead.
The 2017 Adequan Global Dressage Festival, now in its sixth year, is held at The Stadium at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center from January 12 to March 25. It includes seven weeks of CDI competition with concurrent national shows as well as four weeks of FEI World Cup qualifying events. The Premier Equestrian award will be presented several times throughout the season. Winners receive a tri-colored ribbon, an engraved plaque, and the official title of โPremier Equestrian.โ
Steiner has this advice for dressage riders who are working hard to progress up the levels: โContinue to love your horse. Be patient, and first and foremost take care of and love your horse and continue to love the sport.โ
