“We added ArenaAid to our large arena to help with cushion, water retention, and stabilization of the sand. We are beyond thrilled with the outcome! Everyone that rides on it is amazed at how nice it feels- night and day from before we put it in. Thank you Premier!”

What’s the recipe for a great arena surface?

Sand quality

Sand is the key ingredient in all good arena footing and additives; however, not every kind of sand is suitable for all riding arenas. Sand that is well suited for a highly-maintained indoor riding arena might be completely unsuitable for an all-weather, low-maintenance outdoor riding arena. Choosing the wrong sand for riding arenas can create problems and be very expensive over time.

The right footing product

Footing products amend sand characteristics. Textiles and fibers bind loose sand particles and hold moisture. Crumb rubber creates voids in sand that compacts too easily. We’ll engineer the right arena surface for your needs and budget.

Moisture

Water acts as a binding agent for sand particles. It’s required for textile additives to perform correctly. Water also makes up about 1/3 of the cushion.

Maintenance

Grooming and maintenance are key factors in achieving high-quality arena footing. Grooming enables you to maintain a consistent riding surface for your equine athlete, avoid footing irregularities, and condition your sand and footing additives. A professional-type groomer can overturn and redistribute the varying sand particle sizes and keep additives mixed thoroughly.

Important information about footing installation

Installing footing yourself is a great option for saving money. Whether you’re using one of our textile footings or a crumb rubber product, it’s important that you understand the requirements for success.

Premier Equestrian is only providing the product to you. You’re assuming the responsibility of installing the product, sand procurement, blending, watering, and maintenance. These steps are critical to the success of your installation and continued footing quality. Premier will always do our best to provide the information for your successful installation. However, there is no implied warranty that things will be 100% perfect.

The information we give you is based on 30 years of combined experience, working in all areas of the country with many different materials. Yet again, there are so many variables that we cannot guarantee your success. That is the purpose of the information you are reading at this moment. If you are not sure about your ability to install the footing yourself we suggest you contract with an excavator or utilize our Construction Services. We can work with them to assure the proper procedures are followed. Premier Equestrian has been very successful in guiding hundreds of our customers to install our footing themselves. If you choose this option, we will send you an estimate for the product upon acceptance of the estimate. – Click here to accept our Footing Disclaimer
